Sorry About the Confusion!

Hello again, CRS Community!

I have been hearing that some confusion exists about upcoming events for our school community and that perhaps some of the details between these two events are getting mixed up. So I thought it might be helpful to write a quick blog post to clarify things.

Family Connection Night - Hosted by MHCB

On Thursday, December 7, Battle River School Division is hosting its first Family Connection Night. This initiative is being organized by the BRSD Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) team. This is the first event of its kind in BRSD and we're delighted that they chose our school community for their inaugural Family Connection Night! It's a free event, dinner is included and it should be a great opportunity for some of our CRS families to meet and get to know each other better.

Because it's the first attempt at an event like this, the MHCB team is keeping it small and attendance is limited to the first 50 people to RSVP. If you did not RSVP in time to reserve spots for your family, there should be more opportunities in the future. Similar events are planned for school communities around BRSD and the next time it comes around to CRS, perhaps it will have grown so that more members of our school community can attend the next event.

Chester Ronning Christmas Activity Night

Our school's big event for the holiday season is happening on Monday, December 18 and we're excited to welcome everyone back for our second annual Christmas Activity Night between 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Even though we are saying Christmas in the name of this event, the focus is on festive Canadian holiday traditions and we hope that absolutely everyone in our school community will feel welcome to join us for an informal, fun evening of socializing and camaraderie. We did ask families to RSVP by Dec. 4 so that we could plan for the number of people who may be decorating cookies and building crafts but, even if you did not RSVP, I hope that you will still stop by to take part in singing, listen to stories, play road hockey with members of the Camrose Kodiaks, drink hot chocolate around a fire, and more! (Sorry, we're not serving dinner at this event.)

This event is also completely free to attend, thanks to contributions from the CRS Parent Council and the volunteer efforts of our staff but, if you are able, we will be collecting food bank donations. If you have time on Dec. 18, please feel free to come and go any time after 6:00 pm - you can drop by for a few minutes whenever it works in your evening schedule or stay right until 7:30 pm.  You can read more about this event in my previous blog post: https://bit.ly/3uDchlR

I hope this post helps clean up any confusion between these two events and I also hope to see you stop by on Dec. 18! If you still have questions, please call our office (780-672-5588) or catch Mr. Pederson and/or me outside before or after school.

Yours in Education,

Reid Lansing - Principal
