School Communication:

We use a program called School Messenger to contact parents with school reminders or in the event of an emergency. You can text the word "YES" to the number 978-338 and once your child's registration has been set up in the system you will start to receive these messages. (standard text message data rates may apply.)

Our website is the best source of information – our newsletter page has new items posted and grouped together by month, new announcements and updates are posted in blogs on our homepage, and Mr. Lansing, posts on our Principal’s page. If you are looking for 2023-2024 information such as the BRSD calendar, supply lists, bell schedule, or other details you can find it all linked. Additionally, BRSD and our school office communicate messages through School Messenger. You can sign up by texting “yes” to 978-338. (standard text message and data rates may apply.)  Each homeroom teacher may also have a communication method they will share with you.

**I didn't get a paper copy of my child's report card...As a real-time reporting school, final marks are available on PowerSchool. Paper copies were only available to those who requested them by the required date. If you requested a paper copy but didn't come into the school to pick it up during the allotted time slot, final marks are available on PowerSchool.**

Staff are collecting orders in their classrooms unless your child's homeroom teacher contacts you differently. Please send your child a morning snack that day.

Breakfast Club update: 

December 2 is the last day of Breakfast Club until January 5th. There will not be a Breakfast Club for the remainder of December. There may be a small snack (granola bar/fruit cup) available for students that need it, but students will not be able to come in early for breakfast club until the program resumes in January. 

Supervision starts at 8:20 am each morning and students will be outside unless the temperature is colder than -20 C including the wind chill, in which case they will be invited into their boot rooms until the bell goes.

PowerSchool Parent Portal - Parents have Parent Portal accounts created. You do not need to create a new one. To log in for the first time, select "Forgot Password" and then follow the instructions from there. If you are having any problems, please contact Mrs. MacKay in the office - jmackay@brsd.ab.ca

STUDENT INFORMATION VERIFICATION FORMS - These are due ASAP

Every year we are required to provide Alberta Education with a signed and dated  "Student Verification form" for each of our students.  We also use the form to ensure all of the information we have regarding your child(ren) is correct. This year we have moved to an electronic verification form for this process.  In an attempt to streamline our process, the FOIP and Technology Use forms have been incorporated into the Verification form.

To access and complete this form you will need to log into the parent portal via your Web browser (Google Chrome for example.  You will not be able to complete this process on the App).  Click on the SchoolEngage icon on the left.  You will be redirected to the SchoolEngage site where you can select your child’s name.  Click on the  2022-2023 Student Verification Form and then on the blue icon in the first column to review the information.  Once you’ve completed your verification, click on the green submit button on the bottom of the page.

NEW Way of accessing your child’s images online: 
Lifetouch Photography is excited to announce the launch of a new way to access photos online.
After much safety and security testing, Lifetouch developed a way for families to access their child’s photo using their student ID number.
Go to our website at www.mylifetouch.ca, click on Student ID and follow the detailed instructions to view and order photos.  

If you have any questions on this ordering process, please call the Lifetouch Customer Care Line at 1.866.457.8212 or access the live chat on our website, www.mylifetouch.ca
Parents can still access their photos online by using their child’s portrait ID and access code. By enabling the option of using your child’s student ID number, gives people another way to access photos if they lose their proof sheet.

September 23 - Terry Fox Run - Fundraising link -  Grade 2-5 classes will be doing a walk/run to Jubilee Park on Friday, September 23rd while the Kindergarten class and Grade 1’s will be running on the school grounds.

October 7 - New School Move Date

Due to some unavoidable delays, the new Chester Ronning School is now expected to be open for students on January 3rd. In order to prepare for the move, students will have an extension to their Christmas break (December 16 & 17). School staff will use those two days to prepare their new classrooms.

On January 3rd, students will report to the old facility and then walk over to the new school with their teacher.
