"Virtual" Year-end Assembly

Hello Chester Ronning School Community!

A week has now passed since the last day of classes and I certainly hope that the summer break has gotten off to a great start for each of you. During this past week, the entire staff at CRS has been hard at work preparing report cards, hosting a farewell for our Gr. 5 students, cleaning and moving classrooms and doing the many, many things that need to be wrapped up at the end of a school year. After today, report cards will have been picked up and the staff will begin their own summer holidays but we are all already looking forward to welcoming students back in September!

It may be difficult to recall but, originally, June 26 was supposed to be the last day of classes for students... then the health crisis arrived and so many plans had to be revised, if not scrapped altogether. I know it's been said several times but, if you will allow me just once more, I need to thank everyone for their patience, their support and their tremendous efforts to overcome the challenges of pivoting mid-year into a home-based learning format. The teachers did an amazing job coming together as a team and figuring out how to engage and support students without physically sharing a space with them, students worked hard to adapt quickly to new formats and routines, and parents offered incredible levels of support to both the teachers and the students. Congratulations to everyone involved - together, you did a tremendous job!

Normally, on the last day of school, we would have a school-wide assembly. Although it is not possible for us to gather in a traditional way this year, our staff wanted to do something that would serve a similar purpose. I am very happy to share our Virtual Year-end Assembly slideshow with you and I hope you enjoy it!

On behalf of Mrs. McLeod and the entire staff at Chester Ronning School, please accept my wishes for an incredible summer holiday - you deserve it! Take care and take care of each other! Enjoy your break and rejuvenate - the next school year will be upon us before we know it! And, if you can, keep an eye out for communications as we achieve more clarity about the details for school re-entry in September.

Sincerely,

Reid Lansing
